I guess this sort of continues along the lines of the last few days’ discussions. Look, there’s no greater love than God giving His only begotten Son for us(John3:16). Hallelujah!
Just as no greater love can be shown by or for our friends than for us to lay down our lives for our friends. Because everyone doesn’t have children. So to give ourselves totally for someone is a real big thing(John15:12-13).
But to sacrifice something so dear, as an only son or child, for someone else, is a great love; like Abraham was willing to do for God in Genesis 22. Especially when it’s done for someone we don’t even know. That’s why God’s love Is so supreme. Because He sacrificed His best for us, when we didn’t even deserve it. And even when we were enemies in a sense(Rom.5:6-10; Col.1:19-23). Glory to God! Thank You Father!
But how precious our offspring are. And let alone if it is the only one we have and that’s a well-beloved, obedient son or daughter. One we truly desired and longed to have and be blessed with(Gen.15:1-6; Matt.3:16-17). Talk about real love. For to lose such a thing is devastating. Lord, have mercy. But to give it up and sacrifice it for someone else, is the ULTIMATE show of love(1John3:16; 4:7-11).
And that’s what God did for us. And that’s what He commands for us to do, when He says we should love one another as He loves us, and to show the ultimate love for our friends [those we know]; by laying down our lives for them(John13:34-35).
So let’s strive to do so, in all we do. And let’s walk in and show that ultimate love, by giving of ourselves(Eph.5:2), for God’s Glory, our benefit and for the furtherance of the Kingdom of God. Which we definitely need God’s help to do. Which He will do. So let’s truly seek Him by faith, in the Spirit, so we can acknowledge, embrace and even show His ultimate love. By the grace of God. In Jesus name.
