Revised Repost.
Jesus says His sheep know His voice and follow Him and another they will not. Because they don’t know a stranger’s voice, except to know it’s strange, compared to their Lord(John10:1-5,15-16).
It’s like with any parent who instructs their children to do something, they expect them to do so, immediately and totally(Matt.21:28-32). Say for instance a parent tells their children not to open their home door, for or to anyone, while they’re away or even if they are just in the bathroom at home. The parent expects their children to listen to and obey their voice, above all others, no matter who comes and no matter what they may say.
That’s how God wants us to be, when it comes to us listening to any other, compared to Him, whether friend or foe. See the wrong won’t come from hearing and being tempted and approached by someone else, as the enemy can and will come, but he can’t win when we’re obedient to God(Is.54:13-17).
Just as with Eve in the garden in Genesis 3. The wrong wasn’t in talking or hearing what The serpent was saying, because he came to Jesus the same way as well, [though we must be careful not to play with or entertain the enemy. Because if we aren’t strong enough we may not be able to fight off or resist his temptations(Eph.4:27)], but the wrong came when she listened to him over what God had said. And placed him and herself over the Lord(1Tim.2:14). As Adam did by following her. Lord, have mercy.
But back to the example. Someone may try to convince the children to obey them, could even be a close relative, or elder, but if the parent told them not to let anyone in, that means no one. As with us, the enemy may try many tactics: fear, intimidation, disguise, lies, or whatever to get in. But the obedient children won’t let them in because their voice isn’t the voice of the parent(Luke12:42-48). And they know it’s better to obey their parent, just as we should obey our Father God, over whoever, always(Acts4:19; 5:29).
But on the other hand, if the parent came to the door, they would open if they hear, because they know the parents voice. Just as Jesus said the porter and His sheep should and do know His voice(Rev.3:20). And they not only know their voice, but they’re obedient to It.
Now the relative or whomever, might be upset and complain that the children didn’t let them in [oh well, it’s better they be offended than God], but by being obedient to the parent and letting no one in; that would bring the parent great joy, knowing their children are obedient to them over anyone else. And that’s just how we should and must be with Jesus(Luke12:36-40). Unless we want punishment.
Jesus expects such faithfulness and loyalty out of us always. So let’s get very familiar with and be obedient to His Voice. And cast down every thought and anything or anyone else, that exalts themselves against the knowledge of God(2Cor.10:4-5); As we are supposed to always. Lord help us. By the grace of God. In Jesus name.
