I’ve said before how good it is to praise the Lord. And all the benefits associated with praising. And even though all we need is breath to praise the Lord, let’s not let that be all it is to us, nothing but noise.
We can find ourselves shouting and making a whole lot of noise in the name of Jesus, but that’s all it really is and could be, is vain noise. Because we may be claiming He’s the reason we praise but that doesn’t make it so. Just as we can be carrying on and shouting in the name of Jesus because we think He’s in our lives; or that our making noise will get Him in, or means He’s in our midst. But we can be badly mistaken in both instances(Acts19:13-16).
That’s why we should do all we can to line up to and with God’s Word, following Jesus. So our praise will be welcomed and accepted of God. Because we may only need breath to do so, but we need Jesus, obedience and truth for it to be acknowledged and accepted(Ps.19:13-14).
We don’t and shouldn’t want our labor of praise to be in vain. Or to be mistaken, thinking God’s in our midst when He’s not only not with us, but He’s also against us. Lord have mercy.
Just as the story with the children of Israel in(1Sam.4:1-11,19-22). They were at war with the enemy and thought God was on their side in the war. And they brought the ark and were shouting[praising], because they assumed God was with them, for those reasons. They also had the enemy fooled for a moment because their noise making was so convincing. But when it came down to it. God was not only not in their midst but He wasn’t even on their side. And when they found out it was too late, they were defeated and the Glory was gone.
Let’s not let that be us. Shouting the victory one second because we think God has shown up in our midst. And soon after we fall into defeat, and are being rebuked and the very presence of God is taken from us, because of our disobedience(Matt.16:16-23).
So let’s give God the glory always, and make a joyful noise in praise to Him for He is worthy to be praised(Ps.18:3). But let’s make sure we’re in Jesus and that our praise is true and sincere and not just vain noise(1Cor.13:1). Then we won’t have to wonder, but we’ll know God’s accepting our praise and all we do. And that He’ll show up and be in our midst as we shout unto Him with the voice of triumph. In Jesus name.
